Eveleth and Hockey go hand in hand. A city where kids grew up playing hockey on the streets and years later became inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. It makes good sense that Eveleth would pay tribute to the history of its citizens by constructing the World's Largest Free Standing Hockey Stick & Puck and locating it in the center of town. Players from Eveleth inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame include; Mark Pavelich, John E. Connie Pleban, Mike Karakas, Frank Brimsek, John Mariucci, Wally Grant,Willard Ikola, Sergio Gambucci, John Mayasich John Matchefts, Sam LoPresti, Oscar Almquist, Doug Palazzari and coach Cliff Thompson.
